Free public education is something most of us take for granted. But in Haiti, the poorest country, private schools are the only schools and very few families can afford even the most modest tuition.

Solidary Foundation since 2005 give the humanitarian support in order to improve the education  in Haiti, this program   is the result of one marriage's effort  Mr. Nevil Lourent and Mrs. Ane Marie Lourent, to make a difference in the lives of the children of Haiti.

In a nation as devastated as Haiti, it is difficult to decide where to begin to offer help. But education is the one gift that multiplies in the sharing.

Following the storms of the 2008 hurricane season, many in Haiti continue to suffer. Families are still dealing with the loss of livestock and gardens, along with the difficult economic situation in Haiti, which has put an added strain on the adults and children. Because times are difficult and it is very hard to concentrate on learning when hungry, we are striving to improve our Nutrition Program.

The main focus of the Solidary Foundation is to provide scholarships for children to attend school.

It is our hope that all of our schools will one day be permanent structures. Construction at some sites may seem slow by U.S. standards because without water, work cannot proceed. After all the concrete blocks are made, they are set. Buildings have concrete floors and roofs with open-air windows to provide circulation. A school site ideally includes a school building, kitchen and storage commissary.

The school buildings represent much to the Haitian people. They are very proud to be able to have a place for their children to learn and to worship. The school also serves as a safe haven during storms.
